I would just like to remind everyone about the great web site, Seattle CAN, that updates the city on how to live a more environmentally responsible lifestyle. Volunteering, Pioneer Organics, GreenUp and more

- A Fresh Squeeze is promoting a voluteer initiative going on in the Seattle area.

- Pioneer Organics will be starting www.spud.com on May 9th. Peter Latvis, the marketing manager, mentioned that" It will give customers an option to choose "Local Only" produce (grown or produced within a 500 mile radius.) In the future we hope to be able to offer blogging as a component of the spud! website." This is great news. Congratulations!

- The city of Seattle has a great program to promote wind power. The program, Green Up, is trying to get both residents and businesses to switch to electricity made from wind power. This sounds like a great idea that can have a great positive effect on the community. In addition to the wind power received, customers will receive gifts from one of Seattle's leading fair trade chocolate producers, Theo Chocolate. The chocolate is worth the switch alone! Be sure to check out the links to the right ====>

Happy Earth Week

Hey Seattle

Happy Earth week (a day is just too short) to everyone. The work that everyone has done has had a clear effect on society as a whole. Things to note is the recent increase in mpg to 31 by the federal government (not great, but a step forward), corporations like Macy's and Pepsi continuing to develop ways to produce products with more beneficial sources of energy, and the general public handling their lives a with the environment on their mind. But we should continue to do the work needed to get the balance back between our society and the environment.

Take a look at the sites to the right ===> as all these places are great resources for the topics of environmentalism and conservation. We have added the links of the EPA, Pioneer Organics, Goods For The Planet, and Seattle Climate Action Now! Check them out Seattle!

As always, please take the time to look at the blog's donation program and how you can help. Help has started to trickle in and is gaining steam! If your organization would like to find out how to receive donations, please email me at keanemd@gmail.com and include donation program into the subject line.

working out eco style

Hey everyone

- A Fresh Squeeze has put out an article on eco-workouts in the Seattle area. Check out the article.

- Safer grocery bags has become such a large and important topic that in the most recent issue of Wired Magazine, there is an ad from BASF describing how they have created a plastic grocery style bag that lasts for a period of one year and then degrades completely within a period of weeks. I still think there should be a stronger push towards canvass bags for shopping like the ones from Green-Kits. That is a more direct way of eliminating wasteful plastic bags. My family has been able to use the canvas bags enough to eliminate at least 100 plastic grocery bags!

- A shelf seven times the size of Manhattan has UNEXPECTEDLY broken from Antarctica!!!!

Happy eco living!

Hey everyone

A Fresh Squeeze has put out a recent article on the eco effects of Easter. Also, be sure to check out all the local friends of A Fresh Squeeze to find out what you can do to become a more active member in the community.

Environmental News Network has articles about Obama's plan with oil and other geopolitical environmental issues.

I am currently formating the site to feature links to other blogs and sites that pertain to Seattle's environmental community. Please let me know of any that I could post on the links page.

That's all for now. Take care of yourself and the environment.

Charity Program

Hey everyone

You might know that I am a fan of A Fresh Squeeze. I am excited to say that I and hopefully the environment have benefited greatly because of the connections and awareness that A Fresh Squeeze has brought to my environmental activities. Because of this, I was thinking of ways to get people to sign up for their weekly email updates. I realize that the best way to do this is to help another organization in the process.

I would like to announce that I will donate $0.25 to Seattle Tilth for every individual who signs up to A Fresh Squeeze. Seattle Tilth is an organization in the local community that is doing great things to help people understand the importance of our natural resources and provides detailed information and classes on the hows and whys to becoming a more active member in preserving our natural resources.

What I would like you to do is first go and click on A Fresh Squeeze and check out all the amazing articles and links to environmental organizations that it provides. After that, go and click on the link I have provided below to complete the sign up process. It is a two step process that asks you to provide your name and email address. After you sign up, A Fresh Squeeze will notify me of this and I will send money out to Seattle Tilth. I will also send you an email thanking you for your generous support. That is it.

A Fresh Squeeze Sign Up Form

My goal for this program is to continue to increase our awareness and our actions towards preserving our environment. By signing up for A Fresh Squeeze's weekly email updates, you will not only learn about what individuals, groups, and companies in the Seattle community are doing to preserve and protect the environment, you will also be providing additional income and exposure to one of Seattle's premier conservation organizations, Seattle Tilth. I feel that this type of group effort is what is needed to successfully put ourselves in a position to live a healthy life while at the same time preserving the environment.

I want to thank A Fresh Squeeze and Seattle Tilth for their time and support. I will hope and continue to work to receive your support on this venture. If you have any questions or comments, send me an email at keanemd@gmail.com.

Thank you very much for taking the time with this post.
